New tenancy written information: why the order of the process matters

For post-1 May 2026 tenancies, the required written information must be given before the tenancy is signed or otherwise agreed.

For a tenancy created after 1 May 2026, the landlord must give the tenant the required written information about the key tenancy terms before the tenancy agreement is signed or the tenancy is otherwise agreed.

It can be in the agreement

The information can be included inside a written tenancy agreement or supplied separately. What matters is that the tenant receives the required information at the right point in the process.

Why sequence matters

A system can contain all of the right documents and still create a compliance problem if it asks the landlord to sign first and sends the statutory information afterwards. Landlord Buddy therefore treats document generation, provision, signature and execution as separate evidenced steps.
