The wider property history
Money events sit alongside the other dated tenancy activity so the financial record has context.

The financial record
Track rent due and received, retain the ledger and use the tenancy record as the source for statements and evidence when you need to explain the money position.

What this lets you do
Landlord Buddy is designed around the practical workflow rather than making the landlord maintain another disconnected checklist.
Inside the workflow

Keep relevant written agreements or message evidence against the tenancy when the conversation happened outside Landlord Buddy.

What stays on the record
The exact record depends on the route taken, but this area is designed to leave the relevant dates, decisions and documents attached to the tenancy.
Relevant rules & official sources
The summaries below explain why the workflow exists. Landlord Buddy helps organise the process and evidence; the official source remains the authority.
Landlords cannot invite or accept rent before the tenancy agreement is signed. During the pre-tenancy period the usual maximum is one month’s rent for a monthly tenancy, and once the tenancy starts landlords cannot require rent earlier than the agreed due dates except for limited cases.
How Landlord Buddy helps: A clear rent schedule makes the agreed due date and subsequent payment history visible, while the pre-tenancy journey separates holding deposit, tenancy deposit and move-in rent.
GOV.UK: rent and other payments ↗Rent arrears grounds depend on the amount and/or payment pattern, and the landlord needs to prove the relevant ground if proceedings are taken.
How Landlord Buddy helps: The same rent record used for routine reconciliation can be exported later, so evidence is produced by ordinary administration rather than created only when the case becomes serious.
